Memories of my childhood, to share with my family ...

I shall attempt to write my Gorbea/Cintron history in order to provide what I remember of my own life, and what I was told by my parents and grandmother about their lives and ancestors. I have been asked to leave this as a history for my brothers and sister, and my own children. At the same time I will provide what notes and pictures I have been given from other sources, which will provide some verification.

It may become boring to some, but hopefully it will provide some historical reference, in case any descendants after me or any of my brothers may desire to pursue the factual threads to find out more about the family history. Since this is my first attempt to write an autobiography, I will undoubtedly wander in the telling, trying to include the many stories I have been told, factual and maybe not so factual.

I will try to remember as much as I can from my life experiences, which are always colored by the view of the beholder, and which others may have seen differently. It would be wonderful to have my siblings add their versions, as they have experienced some of the same memories, and I welcome their input.

I want to tell this so that my descendants will be proud of the heritage they have. I am so proud of my heritage, and I am glad that I still have memories of the beauty of the island, memories of the family into which I was born, their countenances, their voices, their sweet character.
